We are working on a project building a Japanese Tea House in a Japanese garden in the Cotswolds, which already contains a bridge and a bench constructed by us. The tradition of the tea house is to build in the vernacular. So we are using freshly sawn oak with an oak shingle roof and traditional lime render for the walls. It occupies a position at the edge of a lake, so that the veranda is over the lake itself. Here are a few pics of work in progress from the pile of wood to begin with and then bits of the tea house starting to emerge inside the workshop, before being erected on site.
